Frequently Asked Questions
What is Communities Voices?
We are an emerging public benefit nonprofit. We currently provide peer counseling and support groups. As we receive funding we will provide more services including peer-to-teen, peer-to-peer, community and social services navigation, nonprofit networking and collaboration, training, and other services to improve quality of life.
What is a Peer?
According to SAHMSA, "Peer support workers are people who have been successful in the recovery process who help others experiencing similar situations. Through shared understanding, respect, and mutual empowerment, peer support workers help people become and stay engaged in the recovery process and reduce the likelihood of relapse. Peer support services can effectively extend the reach of treatment beyond the clinical setting into the everyday environment of those seeking a successful, sustained recovery process."
Where do you operate?
Our remote platform allows us to provide virtual services to anyone, anywhere around the globe, though our services are tailored to California where we are based.
I have a lot going on, I don't want to go to therapy, can I talk to you?
Of course! But, we are not a replacement for therapy. We are happy to share our experiences with the therapeutic process and what it's like to be in treatment for a variety of mental health disorders. Sometimes you just need someone to talk to about whatever is going on in your life and we can help you there. Sometimes you need the help of a professional who has been trained in a variety of treatment methods and we'll do our best to help you connect with someone who can help.
